School Challenge
The Merino Muster School Challenge is held on the 5km Straggle Muster course and is perfect for all school ages and abilities. The Merino Muster is being held on Saturday 30th of August in 2025.

How it works
School students enter the 5km race individually, with schools then entering a team(s) of 3-5 students.
Each team can have up to 5 skiers, with the best three times going towards the team’s result. Schools may enter any number of teams.
Experienced Cross Country Skiers may ski in the longer distances with permission of their coaches, their 5km times will be counted.

There is no cost to enter a school team (students still need to enter individually). Register your team using the form below.
More Event Details
● All competitors must be current members of their school’s roll. Home school students are eligible to form teams.
● Younger students may race in an older category but older students cannot race down a category.
Registration:
● Team members must have an individual race entry $20 which can be made at https://www.merinomuster.com/team-entries. There are no extra charges for a team entry.
● All school teams must have an identifier (name) and the pupils linked to that identifier must be entered into the entry system so we can be certain to link the times of their best three competitors in each team.
● School Representation: We would like to see teams wearing some form of their school colours. Something simple like a pinned on small ribbon will suffice, but leave that to the school’s judgment.
● Some school pupils who can ski but prefer not to do so competitively are welcome to be creative and enjoy the spirit of the Merino Muster in fancy dress for example.
● Our race officials have no problem mixing serious with fun. This is the pinnacle event of our season and a celebration of our sport.
